Brothers: Vengeance is a fast-paced thriller written by Timothy Freriks. Jason and Craig Patterson are brothers who own their father’s highly successful plumbing company. Trouble ensues when CEO Steve Jaggers gets himself embroiled with international criminal and human trafficker Javier Estevez in an attempt to take control of the company. Javier uses his underlings to insidiously poison Craig while killing one of Jason’s best friends, Andy Eggleston. After Craig dies, Jason has no choice but to fake his own death and recuperate in Belize. He swears vengeance and, alongside his friend JL, a tenacious cop, plots to bring down the cartel. He finds an unexpected ally in Belize in the form of a Frenchwoman named Monique, with whom he forms an instant connection.

A combination of an intricate plot filled with suspense and intrigue and a fast-paced narrative makes Brothers: Vengeance an engaging thrill ride. Author Timothy Freriks doesn’t shy away from showing the inhumane cruelty of cartel members and spins an absorbing yarn about a man seeking revenge. The characters have decent arcs, and they are well-developed. Multiple POV characters are deftly used to portray the varying factions involved in the story. I found Jason and JL to be my personal favorites. The plot takes several twists and turns to keep you hooked till the end. The deaths of some characters set the tone early on, and you feel the stakes throughout the pages. If you’re itching for a fast-paced crime thriller, Brothers: Vengeance is the book for you.
